A1 Jersey Ski & Snowboard Service Centre
Professionally qualified and experienced ski and snowboard servicing based in Jersey. A fully equipped workshop and a trained technician ensuring you skis or board are 'slope ready'.

Welcome
You live in Jersey.
You have purchased you own skis or board.
You arrive in resort; do you want to have to walk down to a ski shop to get a service/wax?
If you walk down, queue up, your prized equipment is destined for a shop machine that will likely change your existing ski/board factory set angles to whatever the machines pre-sets are. It will likely remove far too much base and edge, this will shorten the life of your skis, so if your bases are flat, a proper hand tune is superior to a shop’s machine tune in every way.

***Quick update***
Lots of snow falling in European and US/Canadian resorts, book your skis or snowboard in and
get it slope ready!!!

I've been asked about a premium service so I'll be introducing a more specialized tune. This will include a hot wax clean, full structuring, extra diamond filing with finer grades for a smoother, sharper edge and a two stage waxing service.

My secure ski and board drop off/collection locker is now available. Once booked in I will supply instructions and an access code. The facility can be accessed if I'm in, if I'm out and essentially any time you want......24hrs a day............

Base and edge angles??!?!
What are they, what do I need and what they do?

Side edge angles affect your ability to grip- particularly on hard snow and ice.
A 90 angle is good for most snowboarders and beginner skiers but sharper angle are used by more advanced skier, particularly racers. Too sharp an angle can lead to difficulty initiating a turn.
Sharper angles also blunt easily and need more maintenance.
Common Side Angles
Skiers
Novice// Intermediate - 89-90 degrees
Advanced/All mountain 88 degrees
Slalom Racer 85-87 degrees
GS Racer 87-88 degrees
Super G and Down Hill Racer 87-88 degrees
Children should not use side angles that are too acute as they will find it difficult to initiate the next turn.

Snowboarders
All Mountain – 88-89 degrees
Rails and Park 90 degrees
Halfpipe 88-89 degrees
Boardercross 87-88 degrees
Slalom 86-88 degrees
Your skis or board will have factory pre-sets, unless told otherwise I will keep these settings.
The skis you bought were designed with these angles in mind!

About me....
I live in Jersey and started skiing on a dry slope near Cheddar Gorge, we'd go on Sundays
and this, to us, was skiing.....sure people did it on snow as well.
My first venture onto snow was in Germany, on 205cm skis and a Nevica two tone jacket with big triangles, no helmet but an amusing hat will bells, I'm going to say a jesters hat?
I kept up skiing, this time trips to France and by now I was on short skis.....195cm!
Fast forward.....I swapped to the light or dark side and started snowboarding!!!
I surfed so thought the transition would be easy!? WRONG!
About 10 years ago I stated servicing skis and boards, word of mouth saw me being asked to do more so I decided to complete a ski tech course in the UK.
I've now set up The A1 Jersey Ski and Snowboard Service Centre. Based in Jersey and operating for over 3 years. I service all makes and models of Skis and Snowboards. Don't wait till you get to resort, I'll sort your gear here in Jersey so it's SLOPE READY.......
